P2A Virtual Journey Opening Ceremony

P2A Virtual Journey Opening Ceremony. Telkom University in collaboration with Universitas Islam Indonesia dan Mapua University Philippines will hold a program called Passage to ASEAN (P2A) Virtual Journey on September 3rd to 28th, 2020 under the theme “Green Growth and Eco-Innovation”. This program is held to enrich student’s school life experience, deepen student’s cross-cultural skills and global mindset, build students relationships as well as strengthen student’s global awareness. There are 50 students from the three universities as well as other universities participate in this program. They will e-exchange weekly for about one to four hours at an agreeable time and day of the week for four consecutive weeks and do a mini project as a team.

Today (7/9), the opening ceremony of the program was held attended by the Rector of each university, participants and buddy who will assist the participants during the program. The opening ceremony was opened by listening to the national anthem of each country and a welcoming speech from each respective Rector. Prof. Dr. Adiwijaya, the Rector of Telkom University, who also opened the program said that this activity would be very useful for exchanging of ideas and fostering of understanding across geographical and cultural divides. It is expected that participants will get different learning experiences.

Moreover, in this opening ceremony, there was also an orientation activity where participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with one another. The opening ceremony was also filled by an introduction to the culture and history of each country. The culture and history of the Philippines is interestingly explained by Dr. Geoffrey Rhoel from Mapua University. Meanwhile, Culture and History about Yogyakarta and West Java were delivered by Riefki Fajar from the Islamic University of Indonesia and Indah Fajarwati from Telkom University.

Participants looked very enthusiastic and curious about the culture of each country so many questions were asked. The last activity of this opening ceremony was the first lecture session with the topic about green growth and eco-innovation which was also the theme of this program. The material was presented attractively by Fajri Mulya Iresha, a lecturer from the Department of Environmental Engineering at the Islamic University of Indonesia. Many participants were active in delivering opinions and questions in this session. This virtual journey program will last for approximately three weeks and will continue with tomorrow’s lecture activity.(IO)***
