Joint Course at University of Malaya
Joint Course at University of Malaya(UM) is an annual collaboration between Telkom University and University of Malaya. The collaboration has been carried out since 2016. Telkom University sending the students to the University of Malaya for the joint course program which last for 7-10 days and vice versa.
The joint course this years is hold on 19-25 December 2018 at the University of Malaya followed by 15 students of Telkom University. The program is a reciprocal collaboration in response to the program at Telkom University on 4-10 November 2018 which followed by 15 students of University of Malaya. The joint course program is focusing in Engineering field. The ongoing program is organized by the international mobility program Faculty of Computer Science University of Malaya leads by Dr. Siti Soraya Abdul Rahman as the coordinator.
The first program was started with an opening and welcome by the respective student mobility adviser Faculty of Computer Science University of Malaya, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maizatul Akmar Ismail. It was followed by a course on Data Science conducted by Dr. Kasturi Dewi Varathan, a faculty tour, and a game development course using scratch. Students were very excited and enthusiast following the courses. As a result, they created their own game using the scratch. The program will be continued with the 3D animation that will be delivered by Dr. Amirrudin bin Kamsin and the web development course which will be delivered by Dr. Asmiza binti Abdul Sani.
In the other hand, during the stay students are guided by the students of University of Malaya as their buddies. Students are having fun and get the chance to explore the city and the society around. Such a pleasure to be assisted by the buddies, it feels warm and homey.
The program includes a city tour, cultural dance show, and industrial visit as well. The program is hoped to give international exposure to the students as well as open their mind and empower them to become the agent of positive change in the world.
