Darmasiswa Students on Tel-U Talk
Darmasiswa Students on Tel-U Talk. Two Telkom University Darmasiswa students were interviewed on “Tel-U Talk”, one of Telkom University programs discusing the achievements of the Telkom university community. This time, Anastassia, a student from Ukraine, and Yeping, a student from China, tell about her experience in learning Indonesian language and culture at Telkom University.
Anastasia and Yeping are foreign students who choose Telkom University as the campus where they study Indonesian language and culture. Darmasiswa is a scholarship program offered to all foreign students from countries which have diplomatic relations with Indonesia to study Language, art and culture. The students can choose one of selected universities located in different cities in Indonesia.
This program is organized by the Ministry of Education and Culture (MoEC) in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA). The reason Anastasia and Yeping chose Telkom University for their place of study was because Telkom University had a good reputation and a very comprehensive BIPA program. Interviewed while practicing Jaipong dance, Anastasia and Yeping told that they really like Indonesian culture.
Therefore, these Darmasiswa students learn to dance traditional dancing so that they are more familiar with Indonesian culture. In addition, they also talked about how they adapted in Indonesia. Anastassia tells her experience when coming to Indonesia for the first time. She said that she always becomes the center of attention.
However, she got used to it as she knows that it was Indonesian culture. Meanwhile, Yeping told that she began to adapt to use her right hand to do something while before she often used her left hand when she was in her country.
In this interview, these Darmasiswa Students also had an opportunity to teach their own language to the audience. Anastassia and Yeping who are Indonesian language major student in their country said that they did not experience any dfficulties when learning Indonesian language and they are very happy to study Indonesian language in Telkom University.(IO)***
