This year, Telkom University is once again launching its flagship international program, Tel-U EDUTRIP 2024, aimed at providing students in its international classes with invaluable global exposure. As part of the university’s dedication to fostering cross-cultural competence and academic excellence, Tel-U EDUTRIP 2024 is taking students to five diverse countries: Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, and Japan.

Taiwan: Exploring Culture and Multimedia Innovation

Tel-U EDUTRIP 2024 to Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT) in Taiwan was a valuable international experience for 13 students from the International Class of the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Electrical Engineering at Telkom University. Along with one accompanying faculty member, the students participated in a range of academic activities at MCUT, gaining insights into Taiwan’s advanced technological landscape from 14-18 August 2024. Their itinerary also included visit to industry, providing them with a firsthand look at how theory is applied in professional settings. Beyond the academic and industrial exploration, the group had the chance to experience Taiwan’s rich cultural heritage, fostering a deeper understanding of global perspectives and enhancing their overall learning journey. This trip offered a unique blend of education, professional development, and cultural immersion, making it an unforgettable and rewarding experience for all involved.

A Journey to Malaysia: Exploring Culture and Multimedia Innovation

The next leg of Tel-U EDUTRIP 2024 was a visit to Malaysia from September 8 to 11, 2024. In collaboration with Universiti Malaya, the four-day program brought together 25 students from Telkom University for a well-rounded experience that merged cultural education with cutting-edge academic content.

Upon arriving in Kuala Lumpur, students participating in Tel-U EDUTRIP 2024 explored Basic Malaysian Culture class, gaining a deeper understanding of Malaysia’s diverse heritage. Academic sessions followed, focusing on Games, Multimedia, and culminating in a Final Presentation, where students showcased their newfound knowledge and skills. Industrial visits highlighted Malaysia’s dynamic economy, while a tour of Kuala Lumpur introduced students to the city’s unique blend of modernity and tradition.

Vietnam: Delving into Blockchain and Business Innovation

From September 29 to October 4, 2024, the Tel-U EDUTRIP 2024 journey continued to Vietnam, where Telkom University students explored the future of business and marketing through technology. Hosted by FPT Education Global, the program featured specialized classes on Blockchain-Enabled Applications in Business and Marketing, offering a glimpse into Vietnam’s growing role in the global tech landscape.

In addition to academic learning, students who joined Tel-U EDUTRIP 2024 visited key industrial sites and toured Ho Chi Minh City, experiencing the energy and innovation driving one of Southeast Asia’s most rapidly growing economies. This immersive experience blended classroom learning with practical, real-world applications, ensuring students left with a comprehensive understanding of Vietnam’s economic positioning.

Dual Adventures in Thailand and Japan: Leadership, Culture, and Cutting-Edge Technologies

Tel-U EDUTRIP 2024 simultaneously ventured to Thailand and Japan from October 6 to 12, 2024, with two parallel groups embarking on distinct yet equally enriching journeys.

In Thailand, Tel-U EDUTRIP 2024 partnered with King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) for a program that combined cultural immersion with academic rigor. The adventure began with an introduction to Thai culture and language, followed by classes on Entrepreneurship, Leadership, and Design Thinking. These sessions were designed to challenge students to think creatively and strategically, providing them with essential leadership skills for the future.

Meanwhile, in Japan, students explored traditional Japanese arts such as Origami, Calligraphy, and Amulet creation, deepening their understanding of how these crafts shape Japanese culture. This experience, Tel-U EDUTRIP 2024 partnered with FPT Education Global, was not merely about mastering skills, but about grasping the cultural context behind these practices.

Both programs included industrial visits and city tours, where students had the opportunity to observe how businesses operate in Thailand and Japan. Seminars and workshops on Globalization, Diversity & Inclusion, Digital Transformation, and the roles of AI and Machine Learning added a forward-thinking layer to the academic experience, ensuring students gained insights critical to thriving in the global marketplace.

Design Journey to Japan

The TelU EDUTRIP to Japan, held from August 25 to October 9, 2024, involved 12 students from the International Class of the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Visual Communication Design at Telkom University. Accompanied by two faculty members, the students had the unique opportunity to participate in design workshops and visit various cultural landmarks, including the renowned Ghibli Museum. During the trip, they explored iconic Japanese characters and delved into the rich cultural heritage of Japan, gaining valuable insights that blended both artistic and cultural learning. This enriching experience allowed them to expand their design perspectives while immersing themselves in the vibrant culture of Japan.

A Global Educational Journey Continues

Tel-U EDUTRIP 2024 program continues with additional batches traveling to Thailand and Japan, following the same impactful schedule. Each destination, collaboration, and learning experience aims to prepare Telkom University’s students to navigate an increasingly interconnected and complex world.
