Collaborative Short Course in Robotics 2024: Nearly a Decade Tel-U x UM Collaboration. Bandung, Indonesia – August 4-8, 2024 – Telkom University and Universiti Malaya have successfully concluded the “Collaborative Short Course in Robotics 2024,” an event that underscores the enduring partnership between the two institutions. Held from August 4 to 8, 2024, this year’s course marks the ninth edition of the program, bringing the collaboration close to a decade of fostering academic excellence and innovation in robotics.
The Collaborative Short Course in Robotics 2024 event commenced on August 4, 2024, with the arrival of a delegation from Universiti Malaya, consisting of 34 students and four faculty members. After their journey, the group was warmly welcomed at Telkom University, where they settled into the dormitories and rested in preparation for the upcoming activities.
On August 5, 2024, the official Collaborative Short Course in Robotics 2024 program kicked off with an Opening Ceremony at the Tokong Nanas Auditorium, 5th floor. The ceremony featured opening remarks from Dr. Lia Yuldinawati, Ph.D., Director of the Directorate of Strategic Partnerships and International Office at Telkom University, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suraya Hamid from Universiti Malaya. The event also included a cultural performance of the traditional West Javanese dance, Bajidor Kahot, providing an introduction to Indonesia’s rich heritage. Following the ceremony, the Collaborative Short Course in Robotics 2024 participants dived into the first Robotics Class session, which combined theoretical instruction with practical exercises in building simple robots. The session was led by the lecturers from School of Applied Science Telkom University, Marlindia Ike, S.T., M.T., and Simon Siregar, S.Si., M.T.
On August 6, 2024, the Collaborative Short Course in Robotics 2024 program continued with advanced robotics theory and an inter-students robotics competition. Supported by 10 teaching assistants from School of Applied Science Telkom University, the competition was a highlight of the course, allowing students to apply their skills while building new friendships across borders.
August 7, 2024, Collaborative Short Course in Robotics 2024 provided a break from the academic schedule with a cultural excursion to Kawah Putih and Glamping Lakeside Ciwidey. The visit offered participants a unique experience of Indonesia’s natural beauty, a memorable contrast to their home environment in Malaysia.
The Collaborative Short Course in Robotics 2024 event concluded on August 8, 2024, as the Universiti Malaya delegation departed for Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at 11 a.m. The farewell was filled with heartfelt goodbyes and a shared commitment to continue this fruitful collaboration.
