Telkom University Representatives Attended The 5G Global Forum in Tokyo

Telkom University participated in 5G Global Forum at Tokyo Hilton Odaiba Hotel on 24-26 May 2017. At this meeting Telkom University was represented by Dr. Eng. Khoirul Anwar, ST., and M.Eng. and Dr. Nachwan Mufti Ardiansyah, ST., MT also represented Indonesia 5G Forum (i5GF) related to his position as the leader of the working group for radio and wireless networks technology.

5G Global is based on a Multi-Lateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work together to build a global consensus on 5G and 5G promotion in the world. This event is held twice a year. Last year, the 5G Global event was first held in Beijing, China by the IMT-2020 Promotion Group (5G) and the 2nd event was held in Rome, Italy by 5G-IA.

Initiation and what has been done by representatives of Telkom University is the beginning of world recognition in the results of the research, research and implementation of 5G technology in Indonesia. After meeting with the 5G Japanese forum secretary, 5GMF,  Dr. Eng. Khoirul, as representative from Indonesia, received an offer at the 4th meeting to be able to sign the 5G Global Multilateral MoU  officially so all of the coordination of the development and application of 5G is part of 5G Global coordination. It is certainly a big responsibility for i5GF to continue to maintain the stamina of research and activity as Indonesia’s contribution

According to Dr. Eng. Khoirul Anwar, of course with the quality of Telkom University’s worldwide research will increase the recognition in the contribution of 5G development in the world in Indonesia either in general or in particular. As the only representative of the university in Indonesia, Telkom University is expected to be able to encourage to make a good opportunity to Indonesia as  “The Rising Countries” as one of the pioneer of 5G global in developing country.

Through 5G Global Forum, the Government of Indonesia as a stakeholder needs to oversee the results of the initiation process and the process of approach at the forum, so that Indonesia’s contribution in the development of 5G technologies is recognized worldwide. The contribution and guarding process is continuously needed so that the Government of Indonesia through Telkom University can make this opportunity to branding Indonesia.

Along with the development of 5G technology that will be launched at 2020, 6G technology development is also being conducted at the Telkom University’s Lab. Advanced Wireless Technologies (AdWiTech) supervised by Eng. Khoirul Anwar, ST., M.Eng who is currently also developing Channel model 5G and 6G in Indonesia and PATRIOT-Net products, utilizing all telecommunication technologies from 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G that expected to grow in the future for Indonesia and world.

5G Global Meeting was held to discuss about trials experiment implementation from various countries targeted with the various visions and views of each country that attended the forum. According to Dr. Eng. Khoirul, 5G technology in Brazil to be developed in the agricultural sector as well as rural areas, while in Indonesia He is hoping that the 5G technology developed in security and sustainable nature, because he said that Indonesia could be the world’s hope in 2050, especially in natural resources, there will be many countries that depend on Indonesia.

Arrangement sector of 5G technology in Indonesia, according to Dr. Eng. Khoirul,  based on MIT research which claim that in 2050 non-equator countries will experience a clean water crisis so that the world expects Equator country such as Indonesia to be the a problem solvers in the crisis later. Therefore, Indonesia needs innovative technology for security as well as resilience of natural resources so that it can also save other countries.
