UIGM 2021: TEL-U, NO 1 PRIVATE UNIVERSITY IN INDONESIA. UIGM (UI GreenMetric) 2021 has released list of university ranking virtually on Tuesday, December 14th 2021. Telkom University managed to rank 9th in the UI GreenMetric (UIGM) 2021 ranking in Indonesia and at the same time brought Telkom University to be the number 1 Best Private University by UIGM 2021. As for the world, Telkom University managed to go up from rank 123 last year to 102 UIGM this year.
Rector of Telkom University, Prof. Dr. Adiwijaya when receiving this prestigious award (UIGM ranking) revealed that the success in maintaining the sustainability of this campus is the work of all TelUtizen. “Telkom University is committed to maintaining the sustainability of its campus and Indonesia, therefore all research and community service activities are focused on fulfilling Indonesia’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This achievement is certainly realized because of the collaboration of the academic community, alumni, and Telkom University stakeholders who are committed to maintaining the mandate of sustainable development”, Prof. Adi said.
This UIGM achievement is the sweet gift at the end of this amazing year. We are certainly happy and feel entrusted. We do hope that through UIGM ranking, all academia throughout Indonesia will be inspired to continue to contribute to protecting the environment.
UIGM PARTICIPANTS
UIGM (UI GreenMetric) is a UI innovation metric that is widely known internationally as the world’s first university ranking based on a high commitment to managing the campus environment. In 2021, UI GreenMetric (UIGM) participants reached 957 universities from 80 countries in the world. There were an increase from the previous UIGM member (2020) as many as 912 universities from 85 countries. As for Indonesia, the number of participants increased from 88 universities in 2020 to 101 universities in this year (2021).
Rector of Indonesia University, Prof. Ari Kuncoro said that the increase in participants at UIGM this year was a disruption that occurred because of this Covid-19 pandemic. It made us realize the importance of a clean and healthy environment. “With the Covid-19 pandemic, we have learned a lot about how important it is to live in a clean and healthy environment. This pandemic has also disrupted academic life and activities on their respective campuses. But this pandemic also provides an opportunity to reflect and define the way we manage universities”, he added.
Head of UIGM, Prof. Dr. Riri Fitri Sari in her speech appreciated every university that participated in this UI GreenMetric (UIGM). She hopes that all academic community will continue to build their respective universities not only for UIGM, but also for contributing to the environment.(IO)***
