SES Tel-U team Represents West Java towards National Level Competition
BANDUNG, TEL-U – English debate team SES Telkom University ranks third in the championship National University Debating Championship (NUDC) organized by the General Directorate of Higher Education (Higher) | Map 18 – May 20, 2015 and at the University of Widyatama Bandung.
By doing so, eight teams with ratings and greatest value will be sent to the national level competition which will be held in August. There, the team will compete against other Kopertis representative regions for a place to be a team that will be sent to the international level the World University Debating Championship in Thessaloniki Greece.
Tel-U team which was consisted of Ranna Artha Jayanti (MBTI Interasional) and Ryan Aminullah, reached the Grand Final by debating the motion “This House Supports Vatican’s recognition of Palestine as a State”.
According Ranna, the race, followed by 31 teams from various universities in the West Java using British Parliamentary system. Each session in this system consists of 4 teams each consisting of 2 people and was divided into debate opening and closing debate. “In this race, there were three preliminary rounds where each team collects points, then selected 16 teams into the election round,” he said.
In these competitions, Ranna Artha Jayanti was also managed to become the fourth best speaker and Ryan Aminullah was ranked the 8th best from all participants. Moreover, in this race Ida Salina Ginting, student of Textile Craft and Fashion program, Faculty of Creative Industries were also included in top 6 highest score as N1 Adjudicator by winning sequence to five.
Rana said that, following the debate competition was a valuable experience to be able to feel the actual work environment. “In the race, we are required to think analytically, respond quickly, and do the research properly to resolve an issue that must be completed in accordance with the specified deadlines,” he said.
