Global Community Service: Telkom University International Students Inspire Young Learners in Subang
Subang, Indonesia – April 19, 2025 – As part of the Global Community Service program, international students of Telkom University brought joy and inspiration to young learners in Salagedang Village, Subang. The activity, organized by the International Office of Telkom University, aimed to contribute to local education through creative English learning and cultural exchange.
A total of sixteen international students from various countries, including Timor-Leste, Philippines, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, Germany, Yemen, Myanmar, Malaysia, Madagascar, Gambia, Pakistan, Sierra Leone, and Bangladesh took part in the Global Community Service activity, supported by six student buddies from International Office Student Buddy Club.
During the Global Community Service, international students visited SDN Tegaltangkolo II and TK At-Taqwa, where they taught basic English through fun games, songs, and conversations to total 124 students. The children responded enthusiastically, while teachers welcomed the fresh approach to language learning introduced by these globally-minded students.

“The Global Community Service is not just about teaching—it’s about building mutual understanding,” said one of the international students. “We are grateful for the opportunity to engage with the local community and learn about Indonesia’s education system.”
This Global Community Service activity also provided an eye-opening experience for the students, many of whom are living in Indonesia for the first time. It allowed them to adapt to a new culture, interact with local educators and children, and develop a deeper appreciation for the values and traditions of Indonesian society.
Teachers from both schools expressed their appreciation, noting that the Global Community Service had a positive impact on students’ motivation to learn English. “Our students were excited to meet the international guests. The learning felt different—livelier and more memorable,” said one of the teachers.
The success of the Global Community Service reflects Telkom University’s dedication to creating globally aware students who are also socially responsible. By supporting programs that encourage international students to give back, the university helps foster cross-cultural collaboration and community development.

The International Office of Telkom University plans to continue expanding the Global Community Service initiative, bringing similar experiences to more areas across Indonesia. Through such initiatives, Telkom University reaffirms its commitment to community empowerment, global citizenship, and education beyond borders.
