Celebrating Indonesian for Heroes’ Day: Be a Zero Waste Hero! After Class Talk November Series #5. On Tuesday (10/11) in coincide with the commemoration of Indonesian for Heroes’ Day, International Office of Telkom University held After Class Talk November Series Episode 5 under the theme Celebrating Indonesian for Heroes’ Day: Be a Zero Waste Hero. Talking about heroes’ day is not always about being a hero for the country, but it can also start with the smallest things like being a hero for the environment. This is in accordance with the theme chosen in this episode, which is about be a zero waste hero.
In this episode, the After Class Talk activity begins with a kahoot game about how well do you know the zero waste fact. Participants who become winner in this game get a prize in the form of e-money. Meanwhile, the event, which was attended by more than 50 participants, featured two speakers who were the actors of a zero waste lifestyle.
One of the speakers in this episode is Siska Nirmala, who is an adventure and zero waste lifestyle enthusiast. She shared he experience for the past 3 years doing a zero-waste lifestyle. Siska, who has a hobby of climbing mountains, told how she always carried out a zero-waste lifestyle when traveling. One of the things she did was not using or carrying plastic products. She always recycles her organic waste and composts it and leaves no trash on the mountain.
Similar to Siska, another speaker in this episode, Galih Prihartanto, who is the Head of Bank Sampah FIT Berseri, also told about how the organization he leads which is engaged in zero waste helps Telkom University campus academia to be able to contribute reducing waste production and learn to recycle waste. This activity was also filled with sharing sessions from foreign students from Tajikistan and Timor Leste where they shared their opinions about the zero waste lifestyle.
