Telkom University Empowers Global Students through Indonesian Culture Workshop 2025
International students experience immersive Sundanese cultural learning in Garut, West Java
Bandung, Indonesia – June 5, 2025 – Telkom University, in collaboration with Kampung Sampireun Garut, successfully held the Indonesian Culture Workshop 2025 on June 2–3, 2025. The two-day cultural immersion program was specially designed for international students—including Darmasiswa awardees, KNB scholarship recipients, regular students, and exchange students—who are currently studying at Telkom University.
The Indonesian Culture Workshop 2025 is part of Telkom University’s commitment to fostering global citizenship through cultural understanding. It provides international students with firsthand experiences of local traditions and helps them build meaningful connections with Indonesian heritage and society.
Set against the tranquil backdrop of Kampung Sampireun, nestled in the hills of Garut, the Indonesian Culture Workshop 2025 delivered a series of interactive activities to introduce participants to Sundanese culture. Students explored the significance of traditional headwear (ikat kepala), participated in traditional games, and engaged in a guided visit to a cultural village, where they observed local crafts, music, and daily life. These hands-on experiences brought cultural lessons to life in a warm and welcoming environment.
A major highlight of the Indonesian Culture Workshop 2025 was the visit to the Chocodot workshop, a celebrated Garut-based chocolate brand that fuses culinary artistry with local storytelling. Students witnessed the full process of artisanal chocolate production and learned how the brand integrates Sundanese values and folklore into its innovative product line. This session not only introduced students to Indonesia’s entrepreneurial creativity but also encouraged them to see culture as a living, evolving force in modern business.
“The experience was eye-opening and unforgettable,” said one participant. “It helped me understand the real Indonesia beyond the classroom and made me feel truly connected to the people and their stories.”
By organizing the Indonesian Culture Workshop 2025, Telkom University reaffirms its role as a global education institution that values cultural exchange as a critical part of academic success. The event also strengthens collaboration between local communities and international learners, ensuring mutual respect and appreciation.
With initiatives like the Indonesian Culture Workshop 2025, Telkom University continues to enrich the international student experience by offering programs that combine education, culture, and community engagement—preparing students to become cultural ambassadors in an increasingly interconnected world.
