OPEN CIRCLES 1.0: Bridging Minds Beyond Borders – A Week of Culture, Innovation, and Connection

From May 3rd to 10th, Telkom University proudly hosted OPEN CIRCLES 1.0: Bridging Minds Beyond Borders, an inspiring inbound mobility program that brought together 40 students and a supervisor from Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), Malaysia. More than just a student exchange, OPEN CIRCLES 1.0: Bridging Minds Beyond Borders was a celebration of curiosity, collaboration, and cultural harmony.
The week kicked off with a warm Opening Ceremony followed by three dynamic classes focused on Artificial Intelligence—its development, applications, and future impact—led by distinguished speakers from both UTP and Telkom University. These sessions were the academic heartbeat of OPEN CIRCLES 1.0: Bridging Minds Beyond Borders, igniting ideas and sparking engaging cross-cultural dialogues.
A standout moment of OPEN CIRCLES 1.0: Bridging Minds Beyond Borders was the Cultural Sharing Session, where Malaysian students connected with Telkom University and SMK Telkom students. Through laughter, games, and meaningful conversations, they exchanged traditions, music, and everyday stories, making cultural understanding feel effortless and genuine.
Adventure and innovation took center stage during the Tech Explore Race, a tech-based game designed to test creativity and teamwork. This hands-on activity allowed participants of OPEN CIRCLES 1.0: Bridging Minds Beyond Borders to bond while navigating tech challenges in a race full of fun and excitement.
To immerse students in local heritage, OPEN CIRCLES 1.0: Bridging Minds Beyond Borders also included enriching field trips to Museum Gedung Sate and Saung Angklung Udjo. These visits offered an unforgettable glimpse into Indonesia’s historical narrative and performing arts, with many students joining in the angklung performance and feeling the rhythm of Sundanese culture firsthand.
The final evening was nothing short of magical. In a heartwarming Malaysian Cultural Night, UTP students showcased traditional dances from the Malay, Chinese, and Indian communities, blending their heritage into one vibrant performance. Singing together with the audience, they brought the spirit of OPEN CIRCLES 1.0: Bridging Minds Beyond Borders full circle—where cultural exchange meets joy and unity.
For many participants, OPEN CIRCLES 1.0: Bridging Minds Beyond Borders was not just a program—it was a life experience. It opened minds, forged friendships, and created memories that go far beyond the classroom.
