Networking-Basic Networking
Networking-Basic Networking. Telkom University through International Office in collaboration with Universiti Kuala Lumpur-Malaysia and Mapua University-Philippines organized the 5th Online Joint Class in Management, Engineering, and Design entitled “Networking-Basic Networking” on Thursday, 20th May 2021 by inviting several experts from three universities. This session invites three main speakers including:
- Periyadi S.T, M.T. from Telkom University (Networking Chapter 1, 2, 3)
- Marianne Sejera from Mapua University (Networking Chapter 7, 8, 9)
- Mr. Ahmad Roshidi Amran from Universiti Kuala Lumpur (Networking Chapter 4, 5, 6)
Networking-Basic Networking Connect Lives
Communication is almost as important to us as our reliance on air, water, food and shelter. Nowadays, through the use of networks, and networking world, we are connected, networking, like never before. Simply, Networks connect and affect our lives.
In this fifth Online Joint Class, Periyadi S.T, M.T from Telkom University opened the first interval about networking with a world that has no boundaries by a network. How technology is today makes it easier for every citizen of the world to join forces in global communities without borders. In his discussion about networking, Periyadi also explained about where a message originates from or where it received. Data originates with an end device, flows through the network, and arrives at end devices.
Still on the same main topic, networking, Mr. Ahmad Roshidi Amran from Universiti Kuala Lumpur presents the Network in various sizes. He states three several of networks such as:
- Small Homes Networks-connect a few computers to each other and the internet
- Small Office/Home Office-enables computer within a home or remote office to connect to a corporate network
- Medium to Large Network-Many locations with hundreds or thousands of interconnected computers
- World Wide Networks-Connects hundreds of millions of computers world-wide – such as the internet
The network security also becomes the main point of his presentation. Some goals of network security are considered regarding to the data safety such as confidentiality-only intended recipients can read the data, Integrity-assurance that the data has not be altered with during transmission, and Availability-assurance of timely and reliable access to data for authorized users.
Following the trends, Networks also develop. Engr. Marianne Sejera from Mapua University who also explained about Networking, stated several networks trends around the world. The role of the network and networking must adjust and continually transform in order to keep up with new technologies and end user devices as they constantly come to the market. Several new networking trends that affects organizations and consumers includes Bring Your Own Device (BYOD), Online Collaboration, Video Communication, and Cloud Computing. The trends also give room for collaboration, Cisco Webex Teams is one of multifunctional collaboration tool which is provide some features such as send instant messages, post images, post videos and links, and video communication.
The development of networking has always been good news that not only brings revival to technology, but synergizes with other lines of life that can improve human quality. (IO)***
