Metaverse Technology Development, a Collaboration of TelU & BRIN. Metaverse is a 3D virtual world network focused on social connections. Metaverse is being hotly discussed nowadays where several people and even various institutions and industries have entered and developed their products on Metaverse. Telkom University received a visit from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) on Wednesday, January 12th, 2022 which aims to strengthen collaboration between the two institutions in developing Metaverse technology which is increasingly being discussed. This was stated by The Acting Head of the BRIN Informatics Research Center, Dr. Didi Rosiyadi, M. Kom.
He said that the development of Metaverse have to be conducted immediately, considering that the implementation of this technology would be so wide in a future, such as virtual student learning for example. “Metaverse seems to have become a new medium that we need to study and prepare together. We think Telkom University is one of the best partners in learning this technology. Hopefully in the future we will be able to produce good metaverse projects for the country,” said Dr. Didi Rosiyadi.
Metaverse Technology Research
Telkom University welcomes the initiation of this collaboration in developing Metaverse technology. Vice Rector of Telkom University for Research, Innovation, and Cooperation, Dr. Ir. Rina Pudji Astuti, M.T. conveyed that Telkom University has many facilities that can be utilized together for the development of Metaverse. “Telkom University has several Research Centers and Laboratory which are ready to use for Metaverse and are already available. Of course, we can use these facilities together to develop the Metaverse. We hope that in the future this collaboration of Metaverse Research can be of benefit and contribution to the country,” She said.
After the Metaverse discussion, the representatives of BRIN visited several Metaverse development facilities, including Laboratory of Telecom Infra Project (TIP), Advanced Intelligent Communications (AICOMS) Research Center, Bandung Techno Park (BTP), and Telkom University Creative Center (TUCC).(IO)***
