International Students Gathering (ISG) 2024. On June 20, 2024, a significant gathering of 74 students from various Indonesian universities took place in Bandung, Indonesia, under the theme “Honoring the Legacy of the Asian-African Conference.” This International Students Gathering (ISG) 2024 event held particular significance as part of the broader commemoration of the historic Asian-African Conference, which originally convened in Bandung in 1955.

 

Back then before International Students Gathering (ISG) 2024, The Asian-African Conference, also known as the Bandung Conference, was a milestone event that brought together leaders from 29 Asian and African countries. Held during the era of decolonization, the conference aimed to promote solidarity among Asian and African nations, advance economic cooperation, and strengthen cultural ties. One of its key outcomes was the adoption of the Bandung Principles, emphasizing principles such as respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, non-interference in internal affairs, equality, and mutual benefit.

 

The International Students Gathering 2024 took place at the Savoy Homann Hotel in Bandung, a historic venue that played a pivotal role during the Asian-African Conference in 1955. This hotel served as the venue for the gathering of delegates, making it a fitting location to honor the legacy of the Bandung Conference and reflect on its enduring impact on global diplomacy.

 

The International Students Gathering (ISG) 2024 event featured a series of insightful discussions and presentations from three distinguished speakers: Ginanjar Legiansyah, Dilan Kurniawan, and Hilton Chironga. Each speaker of the International Students Gathering (ISG) 2024 offered unique perspectives on the historical significance of the Bandung Conference and its relevance in today’s geopolitical landscape.

 

Following the panel sessions of the International Students Gathering (ISG) 2024,  International Students Gathering (ISG) 2024 participants engaged in a guided tour of the Asian-African Conference Museum, organized with the assistance of the Friends of the Asian-African Conference Museum. This interactive museum tour offered attendees a deeper understanding of the conference’s proceedings, artifacts, and the ideals that emerged from this historic gathering in International Students Gathering (ISG) 2024. It served as a meaningful educational experience, fostering greater appreciation and awareness among the international student community about the significance of the Bandung Conference in shaping global diplomacy and cooperation.

 

The International Students Gathering 2024 not only celebrated cultural diversity and historical legacy, but International Students Gathering (ISG) 2024 also underscored the importance of collaborative efforts among youth from diverse backgrounds of International Students Gathering (ISG) 2024 participants. The International Students Gathering (ISG) 2024 highlighted the role of education in promoting intercultural understanding and cooperation, echoing the spirit of solidarity and unity that characterized the Asian-African Conference of 1955.
