As the person in charge of the KNB scholarship at Telkom University, the International Office organized a special event to accommodate this activity.
The Indonesian Culture Workshop for KNB Students is a collaboration between the International Office and Sindangbarang Culture Village, Bogor. Located in Sindangbarang village, the Indonesian Culture Workshop for KNB Students held on Wednesday, August 3, 2022.
Indonesian Culture Workshop Sessions
The Indonesian Culture Workshop for KNB Students lasted approximately six hours, with various exciting activities. Starting at 9 am, KNB students took part in an introduction to Sundanese culture. What is the history of Sindangbarang village, and the ways of life and Sundanese customs. In the second interval of the Indonesian Culture Workshop for KNB Students, students were invited to tour the Sindangbarang location. The guide introduced a site in Sindangbarang, namely Batu Karut, and the wisdom of house design and barns.
The next session of the Indonesian Culture Workshop for KNB Students is a workshop on making simple puppets from cassava leaves. Students were enthusiastic about participating in the Indonesian Culture Workshop for KNB Students. After making puppets, they learn to make kites and fly them.
For KNB students, Alex and Toto, the Indonesian Culture Workshop for KNB Students is like inviting them to reminisce about their childhood. It is proven that the Sundanese culture in the Indonesian Culture Workshop for KNB Students has many similarities with their culture.
The Indonesian Culture Workshop for KNB Students was closed with the performance of the jaipong dance from the dancers of Sindangbarang and Marak lauk,or catching fish in the mud in a typical Sundanese pound. In addition to watching the dance, the students also participated in dancing to add to the liveliness of the event. At the same time, the Marak Lauk was won by Imran and Toto, who managed to bring almost 2 kilos of fish to Bandung.
Events such as the Indonesian Culture Workshop for KNB Students can be a means for international students to interact directly with Indonesian culture in general and Telkom University in particular.
