Hongik International Summer School 2024 is officially open for applicants. This program offers students from around the world a wonderful experience with a credit-bearing subject (3 credits) at Hongik University, Seoul. Besides academic experience, Hongik International Summer School 2024 also offers students the opportunity to explore Art and Design in Korean Culture, Hangeul (Korean) Calligraphy, Korean food, and Korean Famous Company.

PROGRAM PERIOD OF HONGIK INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL 2024

The Hongik International Summer School 2024 is an intensive three-week program, typically held from July to August each year. Scheduled may vary based on the course taken.

APPLICATION DEADLINE OF HONGIK INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL 2024

Telkom University students who want to participate in the Hongik International Summer School 2024 at Hongik University must register beforehand via the internal application link before March 15th, 2024.

 

COURSES AVAILABLE IN HONGIK INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL 2024

Students can choose only one course. Each course is worth 3 academic credits (=45hours of lecture hours). Please refer to the attached files for more details on each curriculum.

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES OF HONGIK INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL 2024

DDP (Dongdaemun Design Plaza)

DDP is a multi-cultural complex located in Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station in Seoul, Korea. Since its foundation on March 21st, 2014, DDP has staged diverse cultural events including exhibitions, fashion shows, product launch shows, forums, conferences and various cultural events. DDP is where new design trends begin, and cultures are exchanged.

Hangeul (Korean) Calligraphy

King Sejong of the Joseon dynasty created Hangeul in 1443 to gift his people with an alphabet that was easy to learn and use in their everyday life. This means that Hangeul also represents communication and consideration, values which are inherently cherished by mankind. As cultural content around the Korean alphabet and language is being widely embraced by people around the world, international interest in Hangeul and the Korean language is increasing exponentially.

Korean Food Cooking Class

Hansik refers to cuisine crafted from ingredients typical to Korea, while also employing traditional cooking methods or similar recipes. It also encompasses the utilization of

tangible and intangible resources, activities, and the broader food culture associated with Korean cuisine. Hansik culture encompasses food, alcohol, tea, beverages, and even processed foods that utilize Korean ingredients. It also includes recipes, table setting, tableware, cooking utensils, design, and dining etiquette.

Hyundai Motor Studio

“Into the Car” is Hyundai Motor’s main exhibition. This experience allows you to truly understand how cars are manufactured by letting you see, hear, and touch various aspects of the process, each step of the way.

APPLICANTS ELIGIBILITY FOR HONGIK INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL 2024

  1. Active Telkom University undergraduate student
  2. Having excellent academic records and good honours with GPA 3.00 (out of 4.00) or above
  3. Having good English communication skills, proved by English at level TOEFL-iBT 61/higher or Telkom University EPrT 500.
  4. Being passed the nomination step of an exchange program

 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR HONGIK INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL 2024

As the first step, Telkom University students must prepare all the required documents for joining Hongik International Summer School 2024, such as:

  1. Scan of Student ID Card
  2. Recent Academic Transcript in English
  3. Scan of English Proficiency Certificate at level TOEFL-iBT 61/higher or Telkom University EPrT 500.
  4. Formal Photo

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR Hongik International Summer School 2024 OFFICIAL REGISTRATION

Follow these additional requirements for official registration to participate in Hongik International Summer School 2024:

  1. Formal photo in jpg format which is under 500KB in size
  2. A copy of passport
  3. Bank certificate
  4. Application form
  5. Family Relation Certificate (only for applicants with bank certificate under their father or mother’s name)
  6. Letter of Recommendation by International Office of Telkom University (only for applicants who don’t meet the GPA or language requirement)

  1. Applicant reads detailed information of Hongik International Summer School 2024 HERE.
  1. Applicant consults with academic supervisor related to participation in the program, including the courses’ selection.
  1. Applicant prepares required documents for the internal nomination step at Telkom University.
  2. Applicants make an online registration for the nomination step at: http://tiny.cc/RegHONGIK24  before March 15th, 2024.
  3. Wait for the next announcement regarding the CHOSEN nomination of Hongik International Summer School 2024  from the International Office of Telkom University.
  4. Once the nomination, the applicant will be guided to apply to the official online application for Hongik International Summer School 2024.
