Engineering Service Learning 2022. Telkom University is honored to be part of this year’s Engineering Service Learning 2022. The virtual mobility program of the Engineering Service Learning is hosted by PNU in collaboration with universities in Indonesia, Morocco, and South Korea. The Opening Ceremony of the Engineering Service Learning was held on Tuesday (26/7/22) with the remarks from several representatives from universities who participate in Engineering Service Learning including:
- Young Bong Seo, Engineering Service Learning Program Director, Engineering Service Learning Program Director
- Dr. Rina Pudji Astuti, Vice-Rector of Research, Innovation, and Strategic Partnership Telkom University, Indonesia
- Bambang Sumantri, S.T., M.Sc., Deputy Director for Academic Affairs of Surabaya State Electronics Polytechnic (PENS), Indonesia
- Abdellatif Moukrim, Dean of Faculty of Science of Tetotuan ENSAJ Morocco
- Jae Weon Choi, Director of ABC (Alliance of BEE Centers) South Korea
Engineering Service Learning Remarks
All remarks from university representatives conveyed the same hopes that by joining Engineering Service Learning, all students can help solve real-world problems using engineering knowledge, teamwork, and creative innovation. In his speech, Jae Weon Choi, Director of ABC (Alliance of BEE Centers) South Korea said that through Engineering Service Learning, students can learn innovative design and can make the greatest design solutions for a customer.
While Dr. Rina Pudji Astuti, Vice-Rector of Research, Innovation, and Strategic Partnership at Telkom University added that the goal of Engineering Service Learning is to empower the skill to effect change within the communities. The Engineering Service Learning is also expected to be expanded by inviting other universities from other countries says Dr. Bambang Sumantri, S.T., M.Sc., Deputy Director for Academic Affairs of Surabaya State Electronics Polytechnic (PENS), Indonesia
“We hope next year we can also invite the universities from other countries. So we can give experience, especially to our students to have an interaction with other community and international students” he added at the opening ceremony of The Engineering Service Learning.
From the Engineering Service Learning video documentation, Engineering Service Learning participants have created several projects that give benefited the community over the past 10 years.
Their experience to solve small community problems, especially in the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sector is one of the responsibilities of the students that able to be the solutions to these problems in the form of a ready-to-use product, a smarter product/service for the community and unwittingly also becoming an unbeatable value for the students. For this reason, Young Bong Seo, Engineering Service Learning Program Director, Engineering Service Learning Program Director, does not forget to remind the participants to catch the moment and make their own stories.
There are 58 participants of the Engineering Service Learning from various universities (Telkom University, PNU, PENS, Poliwangi, Ensaj) who are grouped into ten teams who will collaborate on a group project for about two months from July- August 2022.
