ASEAN AI Hackathon 2026. As Southeast Asia’s digital economy is projected to exceed USD 1 trillion by 2030, the demand for industry-ready AI talent has never been more urgent. The ASEAN AI Hackathon 2026 serves as a high-impact industry-academic bridge, connecting top student innovators from the P2A network with technology leaders to co-create ethical, real-world AI solutions.
OBJECTIVES
By integrating mentorship and deployment opportunities, the program transforms student potential into workforce readiness with five core objectives:
- Future-Ready Competencies: Building advanced AI, Cloud, and Agile skills to bridge the gap between classroom learning and the global job market.
- Human-Centric Innovation: Leveraging AI (ML, NLP, CV) to create solutions that prioritize regional progress and human well-being.
- Regional Resilience: Architecting scalable and sustainable AI applications tailored to solve ASEAN’s unique challenges in health, climate, and education.
- Transnational Ecosystem: Fostering a “One ASEAN” spirit through cross-cultural collaboration across the 11 member states.
GENERAL INFORMATION OF ASEAN AI HACKATHON 2026
- Schedule: March – July
- Platform: Hybrid Mode (Online workshops/mentoring via Zoom; On-site Final Pitching in Vietnam)
- Participation: Open to students from ASEAN Institutions.
- Number of teams per Institution: 2-5 teams.
- Team Structure: 3 to 5 members per team.
- Multidisciplinary: Must combine Technical students (IT/AI) and Non-technical students (Business/Social Sciences) to ensure viable business models and social impact.
- Gender Balance: Strongly encourage female leadership
- Top 8 Finalist Teams: Opportunity travel to Da Nang, Vietnam for the Grand Finale.

INTERNAL REGISTRATION DEADLINE OF ASEAN AI HACKATHON 2026
Telkom University students who want to participate in the ASEAN AI HACKATHON 2026 must register via the internal application link before 31 March 2026.
SCOPE AND FOCUS AREAS OF ASEAN AI HACKATHON 2026
- Climate Change Resilience: Focuses on disaster mitigation, emergency response, and addressing the impacts of climate change, especially in underdeveloped regions
- Public Health & Telemedicine: Digital health systems and women’s healthcare advancements.
- Smart City: Include Mobility & Urban Sustainability. Intelligent transportation, urban digital transformation, and sustainable living.
- AI for Education: Focuses on applying AI across all levels of education to enhance learning experiences and equal opportunities.
APPLICANTS ELIGIBILITY FOR ASEAN AI HACKATHON 2026
- Active Telkom University undergraduate students who have passed 1 year of study.
- Having excellent academic records, min GPA of 3.0 and/or above.
- Having good English communication skills, proved by English at level CEFR B2 (IELTS 5.5, TOEIC 785, IBT 72, ITP 543, Duolingo 90, or EPrT 500* (for internal registration only).
- Being nominated by the International Office of Telkom University.

As the first step, Telkom University students must prepare all the required documents for joining ASEAN AI HACKATHON 2026, such as:
- Scan of Student ID Card
- Recent Academic Transcript in English
- Scan of English Proficiency Certificate.

- Applicant consults with academic supervisor related to participation in the program.

- Wait for the next announcement regarding the CHOSEN nomination of the ASEAN AI HACKATHON 2026 from the International Office of Telkom University.
- Once the nomination, the applicant will be guided to apply to the official online application for ASEAN AI HACKATHON 2026.
