UNIIC Demo Day 2024: Global Startups Shine in Innovation and Culture Exchange
The University Incubator Consortium (UNIIC) Demo Day 2024 was held once again for its second edition. UNIIC Demo Day 2024 took place from September 17-20, 2024, in Jakarta and Bandung. Telkom University, through Bandung Techno Park (BTP), along with Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN), Universitas Indonesia (UI), and Universitas Trisakti, hosted the University Incubator Consortium UNIIC Demo Day 2024.
The UNIIC Demo Day 2024 aimed to bring together university business incubators from several countries across Asia, including Vietnam, the Philippines, India, Malaysia, South Africa, Uzbekistan, and Cambodia, and featured a competition between 13 startups. UNIIC Demo Day also served as a platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and cultural exchange among the participants.
Prof. Dr. Vinesh Thiruchelvam, Chief Innovation and Enterprise from Asia Pacific University Malaysia, shared that when UNIIC was first initiated, only six universities from Asian countries were involved. Today UNIIC Demo Day 2024, the initiative has expanded to include participants from Africa and Uzbekistan.
The Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, and Cooperation at Telkom University, Rina Pudji Astuti, warmly welcomed and encouraged the 15 startup teams who presented their innovative ideas during the Pitching Competition held at the Telkom University Landmark Tower (TULT).
The UNIIC Demo Day 2024 event comprehensive program included a Startup Workshop, Pitching Competition, Cultural Visits & Tours, and other activities focused on key entrepreneurship aspects such as business idea development and effective pitching techniques. The experienced venture capital judges provided valuable feedback, enhancing the participants’ experience and competencies.
The teams were evaluated based on criteria such as innovation, problem-solution fit, business viability, impact, and storytelling ability.
The UNIIC Demo Day 2024 edition brought together a total of 15 startup teams from UNIIC member universities, including Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation, Universitas Trisakti, Telkom University, Multimedia Nusantara University, Universitas Indonesia, Adamson University, Palawan State University, DOST-MIMAROPA, Can Tho University, Tra Vinh University, Cambodia University of Technology & Science, Western Philippines University, Mindoro State University, and Coimbatore Institute of Technology. These teams hailed from countries such as Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, India, Malaysia, South Africa, Uzbekistan, and Cambodia.
One of the startup teams from Telkom University emerged as the winner of the Pitching Competition at UNIIC Demo Day 2024. The first-place winner, Redooceit from Telkom University, was followed by the first runner-up, Stappl Inc from Adamson University, the Philippines, and the second runner-up, Lunar Interactive, also from Telkom University.
Additional awards included the Best Pitch Award, which went to Team Ark from Asia Pacific University, Malaysia, and the Most Favorite Startup Award, which was won by HerLens from Universitas Indonesia. These recognitions ensured that all teams had the opportunity to be acknowledged for their hard work and creativity.
UNIIC Demo Day 2024 once again became a celebration of entrepreneurship, innovation, and cultural exchange.
Participants gained valuable networking opportunities, exposure to investors, and a deeper understanding of the diverse cultures across the Asia-Pacific region.
