Collaborative Short Course Between CQUET And School Of Electrical Engineering

Chongqing, China – 20 July 2026 – Telkom University, through the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FTE), successfully conducted a Short-Term Visit to Chongqing Polytechnic University of Electronic Technology (CQUET), Chongqing, China, as part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening international partnerships in higher education, research, innovation, and cultural exchange.

The delegation was led by Angga Rusdinar, Ph.D., Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, and Cooperation, accompanied by Dr. Budi Syihabuddin, Secretary of the International Undergraduate Program in Telecommunication Engineering, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, and Muhammad Rendra Perdana Kusuma Djaka, M.T., Lecturer of the Undergraduate Program in Telecommunication Engineering. The visit also involved 13 students from the Joint Degree Programand3 students from the Student Mobility Program, providing them with valuable international academic and cultural experiences.

The first day of the program began with a courtesy meeting with Prof. Xing Kunlun, Vice President of CQUET. The meeting provided an opportunity for both institutions to discuss ongoing collaborations and future academic initiatives while strengthening mutual understanding between the two universities. At the same time, the participating students joined a Chinese Cultural Experience Program, allowing them to gain firsthand exposure to Chinese traditions and cultural values.

On the second day, the delegation attended the official opening ceremony, which was joined by Zhang Ning, General Manager of ZTE Chongqing Office, Zhou Xin, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of CQUET, along with several CQUET representatives who had previously visited the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Telkom University.

One of the highlights of the visit was the exchange of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the Bachelor Program in Computer Engineering and the Bachelor Program in Electrical Engineering, reaffirming the commitment of both institutions to further strengthen academic cooperation. During the meeting, both universities also confirmed plans for CQUET’s upcoming visit to Telkom University in September 2026.

The delegation also visited several advanced research and teaching facilities at CQUET, including the Internet of Things (IoT) Laboratory, Artificial Intelligence (AI) Laboratory, Communication Technology Laboratory, and the CQUET–ZTE–Huawei Collaboration Center. These visits provided valuable insights into CQUET’s academic ecosystem and showcased ongoing collaborations between universities and industry partners.

In addition to institutional visits, the participants took part in a four-day 5G Technology Training Program, attended by both students and lecturers. The training aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of next-generation communication technologies while strengthening collaboration between academia and industry.

Beyond academic activities, participants also experienced Chinese culture through a Chinese Calligraphy Workshop, where students learned the fundamentals of Chinese character writing under the guidance of local instructors. The activity served as an important component of intercultural learning throughout the visit.

Throughout the visit, intensive discussions were conducted regarding future collaboration opportunities, including the expansion of Joint Degree Programs to other academic levels, online professional training, visiting lecturer programs, and joint research initiatives. These discussions were actively facilitated by Zhou Lei from ZTE, highlighting the company’s commitment to supporting international academic cooperation between universities and industry.

The program concluded with additional cultural exchange activities involving students from both institutions, creating opportunities to build friendships, strengthen intercultural understanding, and encourage future academic collaboration.

Through this Short-Term Visit, Telkom University continues to demonstrate its commitment to internationalization by providing meaningful global learning experiences for students while strengthening strategic partnerships with leading overseas institutions. The collaboration with CQUET is expected to generate broader opportunities in education, research, technological innovation, student mobility, faculty exchange, and intercultural collaboration, further supporting Telkom University’s vision of becoming a globally recognized entrepreneurial university.
