The Saxion University Joint Degree Program with Telkom University for Industrial Engineering is one of Telkom University’s Programs to support the Internationalization Mobility Program. Telkom University Industrial Engineering cooperates with Saxion Bachelor in Business Engineering (SDP).

This program is eligible for the third students of Telkom University. The Telkom University students should get TOEFL 500 or IELTS 6.0 and have GPA 3.2 out of 4.0 to join this program.

Introduction

The International Bachelor of Business Engineering aims to offer international students a one-year program of 60 ECTS to become a Bachelor of Business Engineering and develop all the relevant competencies. You will learn how to analyze, design, and optimize organizations and business processes. You will also learn how to effectively implement these changes. As a professional in industrial engineering and management, you combine knowledge from the fields of business and technology. You use models and techniques to systematically analyze a company’s strengths and weaknesses, and implement the necessary improvements. By doing so, you make organizations and business processes more efficient. You optimize quality, maximize profit, minimize risk, and improve the competitive position of an organization. You will also learn how to carry out proposed changes in regard to the consequences for the organization, staff, finance, and market position.

Course content

The Short Degree Programme Business Engineering consists of seven taught modules and one dissertation module.

1. Leadership (4 ECTS)
In this module you will learn about management as well as how to do management. You can name the current trends and and issues facing managers/entrepreneurs, explain why people resist change and how resistance might be managed and explain the major components that determine group performance and satisfaction. Additionally, you will discuss the challenges managers face in motivating (groups of) workers, describe different motivation theories and show behaviour that is effective at negotiations, listening and conflict management.

2. Strategy development (4 ECTS)
In this module you will learn about the fundamental aspects of strategy development. You will develop a strategy, write a business plan and will learn to you some common strategy and business analysis tools.

3. Technology & Process Management (4 ECTS)
In this module you will develop knowledge and skills in the field of technology and process management. You will learn how to use technology management tools based on some specific subjects like: technology audit, technology exploration, process management, technology roadmap and strategic management of technology.

4. Entrepreneurial Behaviour (4 ECTS)
In this module you will learn about the field of opportunity recognition, -evaluation, -exploitation. This module is all about recognizing organizational problems and their opportunities and threats.

5. Change Management (4 ECTS)
In this module students you will learn about implementation of organisational improvements and changes. You will  learn to assess what needs to change in the organisation (regarding external opportunities and threats as well as the company’s own strengths and weaknesses) and how this change can be implemented.

6. Innovation management (5 ECTS)
In this module you will develop knowledge and skills in the field of describing and analysing innovation in terms of product, process and market innovation and management issues related to these subjects. You will combine all this in a innovation plan.

7. Strategic Innovative Entrepreneurship (5 ECTS)
In this module you will learn about translating strategy and business models into quality of processes and concrete business plans, with the use of creative techniques.

8. Dissertation (30 ECTS)
The final assignment must be carried out in a company / organisation in a practical setting, You have to formulate a problem from professional practice and translate this in terms of an objective, a main question and a number of research questions. You systematically gather and analyse data on a part of the professional operations and translate the outcomes in terms of professional practice. At the end of the dissertation period, you present the outcomes and the recommendations of your research for the company and Saxion.

Requirements

Our general entry requirements apply. Additionally, international students looking to enroll in the Short Degree Programme – Business Engineering will need a steady knowledge base, matching that of students enrolled in the Dutch four year full time Business Engineering course. This means that you will need to show sufficient knowledge and skills in the following Business Engineering disciplines:

  • (Business) Marketing;
  • Organisation and Management;
  • Finance and Accounting;
  • Production methods;
  • Research Methodology;
  • Logistics/operations management.
  • Furthermore, applicants need to have at least 6 months of relevant experience in industry (e.g. assignments, projects, internships)

During the enrollment process, you will be asked to make a Business Engineering Assignment at home. The results from this assignment are taken into account in the application process. A digital interview can be part of the enrollment process as well. If this is the case, you will be informed during the enrollment process.
