International West Java Airport Kertajati
Bandung – International West Java Airport (Kertajati) is located in Majalengka, West Java is the second biggest Airport in Indonesia after Soekarno-Hatta Airport. The Airport is being built since Desember 2015. Currently the airport has 5 rutes: Kertajati-Denpasar, Kertajati-Surabaya, Kertajati-Ujung Pandang, Kerjajati-Balikpapan, Kertajati-Medan.
Thursday 24th May 2018 Kertajati Airport had their first landing (historical landing) by Garuda Airlines from Jakarta. This year the Airport will be the place of embarkation of Hajj Pilgrims Indonesia to Saudi Arabia. This Airport can accommodate maximum number of 2.500 people of Hajj Pilgrims. For now Kertajati is only the intermediaries for the Hajj Pilgrims. The pilgrims who wants to go to Saudi Arabia will fly from Kertajati to Jakarta first, then from Jakarta they will fly to Saudi Arabia, currently there’s no direct flight from Kertajati to Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile the airport itself capacity is 5.6 million passengers a year and in the future the plan is to build the airport to accommodate 18 million passengers a year.
Access to the Airport itself is currently at expansion, Kertajati Airport is connected through buses and train. Currently the access it through Cipali highway and railway will be constructed soon. Right now the Cileunyi – Sumedang – Dawuan (Cisumdawu) highway (with length of 58KM) is still under construction and will be done by th end of 2018. For passengers whose coming from Jakarta, they can use trains from Gambir Station and its only 2 hours journey.
The “Aetropolis Business Concept” expected to be Indonesia chance of fixing Indonesian’s services in the field of aviation. Kertajati Airport also expected to be the example of infrastructure development for the country. Kertajati is expected to be the answer of all problems faced by Soekarno – Hatta and can replace Husein Sastranegara (Bandung).
For the facility itself the airport has 2.500m X 60 M runway, 2.750m X 25m pararel taxiway, 1.180m X 25 m cross taxiway, and 576m X 151m apron which can accommodate 4 wide jet (Boeing B777 or Airbus A330) or 6 narrow body jet (B737 NG or A320).
Kertajati Airport is not only facilitated with big airport but also facilitated with kids play ground, comfortable waiting room with beautiful interior design, that make people feels like in a garden with white trees.
