Retail Industry in Asia: Online Joint Course Telkom University & Chitkara University: #2. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
After a major success in organizing 1st<\/sup> Online Joint Course program under the theme Automobile Industry in Asia a week ago, Telkom University<\/a> held 2nd Online Joint Course program with Chitkara University on Friday, May 8th<\/sup>, 2020. This 2nd<\/sup> Online Joint Course raised \u201cRetail Industry in Asia\u201d as the topic for the presentation since the participants of the Online Joint Course are students from Master Management Program in Telkom University. This topic was so interesting being discussed as the consideration for seeing the trends of retail industry in this era especially in Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The invited speaker for this 2nd<\/sup> Online Joint Course was Dr. Dilpreet Singh, Ph.D., MBA, the associate proffessor of Chitkara University. Dr. Singh opened the session by checking participants prior knowledge on the topic being discussed by the use of poll. Almost all participants had similar understanding about the term of retail. <\/p>\n\n\n\n According to Dr. Singh, retail is the commercial process where the seller sell consumer goods or services to customers through multiple channels of distribution to earn a profit. The existence of retail industry affects to country\u2019s GDP. In India, 22% of GDP is from retail industry and 8% of employee works at retail industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The top 10 retailers of the world are\nstill dominated by retailers from United States such as Walmart, Amazon,\nWalgreens Boots Allience, etc. While Carefour, one of the biggest retailers in\nIndonesia was in 8th position of the top 10 retailers of the world. In India,\nthe biggest retailer industry is Flipkart. In nowadays era, retail industry is also\nstarting to promote online shopping to provide goods and services effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As the development of technology, retail\nindustry are evolving from in-store service into E commerce and M commerce.\nCurrently, South Korea is the country which has the largest E commerce and M\ncommerce that is around 16% and 19% respectively. While in India and Indonesia\nthe existence of E-Commerce and M commerce are still less than 15%. It means\nthat in-store service is still in demand in almost all countries in Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dr. Singh explanation was very informative as we all are informed on how retail industri is growing rapidly in Asia.
