Having held the 1<sup>st<\/sup> session of the Online Joint Class a week ago (10\/06), Telkom University continued to successfully host the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> &amp; 3<sup>rd<\/sup> session of the Online Joint Class, in collaboration with Multimedia University Malaysia and supported by Passage 2 ASEAN on Thursday, June 18<sup>th<\/sup>, 2020. The class was participated by participants from various countries such as Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Yemen, Jordan, Palestine and Indonesia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The participants were enthusiast to lean about today\u2019s topics on Analytics Data Visualizations and Image Processing for Medical Applications. As we know that data especially a large scale of data covering so many numbers will only a number if there is no visualization. Those data need to be visualized in order to be read and understood comprehensively. That\u2019s why participants attended the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> session to gain knowledge on data visualization and the tools for visualizing the data itself. Moreover, in the 3<sup>rd<\/sup> session, participants were wondering on what kinds of programs or applications that support in medical field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> session, held at 10 AM, the participants learned about \u201cAnalytics Data Visualizations with Self-Service BI Tools: Data-to-Insight-to-Action\u201d that was delivered by Dr. Tora Fahrudin, a lecturer of Telkom University. The topic given by Dr. Tora covered three main points including <em>1) What is Data Visualization, 2) Data Visualization Tools, and 3) Tableu as Data Visualization tool used in BI<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Dr. Tora, data visualization is the graphical representation of the information and the data which can be charts, graphs, maps, world cloud, diagrams, and etc. People need to visualize the data because it can be easier to understand pattern, trend, and outliers. Besides, data visualization can attract user to be focused on something being displayed such as the pattern or trends. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thus, data visualization can be an aid decision analysis whether it needs to be improved, repaired, eliminated or even terminated. There are several data visualization tools that can be used to present the data, depending the user and the needs. The most familiar tool to visualize the data is Microsoft Excel. It\u2019s pretty simple to present the data using Microsoft Excel since it can be visualize into chart, graph, or diagrams. In academia setting, people tend to use Python and R as data visualization tools, and programmer also knows more about D3, High Charts, Echarts, Leaflet, Vega, deck.gl and etc. In addition, for the commercial products, there are Tableu, Power BI, and etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 3<sup>rd<\/sup>\nsession was held at 2 PM by inviting Assoc. Prof.\nAgus Pratondo, Ph.D., a Vice Dean of Finance and Resource School of Applied Science, Telkom\nUniversity. Dr. Agus delivered material on \u201cWhat Image Processing Does\nfor Medical Applications\u201d covering <em>1) Introduction of Medical Images (MRI, CT\nScan\/ X ray, USG), 2) Fundamental Image Processing for Medical Image (histogram\neq, smoothing, etc.), and 3) Advance Medical Image Processing (segmentation\nusing machine learning, active contour, method integration)<\/em>. Through his\nexplanation, participants can conclude that programmer and his\/her programming\nare also very important for the medical field. An excellent programming is very\nhelpful for medical practitioner to detect diseases that exist in human body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t miss our next Online Joint Class to gain more insightful topic.
